Around the same time Trump dictated a message for Corey Lewandowski to give to Jeff Sessions, ordering he limit any investigation into Russia's 2016 operation, Jeannie Rhee and Andrew Weissmann got briefings showing that DOJ wasn't investigating how Russia weaponized their hack.

Why? Without all these contacts, there wouldn't have been a fruitful FBI investigation into Trump-Russia contacts. (No "there" there.) No Russian contacts means no Sessions recusal, and no special counsel. No Mueller report, and no need for a Durham counter-investigation, either.
