I'm not sure loans are the only or major factor in driving up cists, buy UK schools tend to have tuition pegged to £10k/year. (the housing situation is somewhat a mess accordingly, both as money maker for schools and rapacious real estate companies, and difficulty finding flats in UK.) I'm not a libertarian, so I'm not against gov involvement, but can be persuaded by money arguments, such as small borrowers leading unpaid debt. But yes, the "no bankruptcy for you!" change on student loans was ugly.</p> <p>BTW, my outstanding loans were only $6-8k when I chose a cheap job, but being Eurotrash, hard to find a job,, at least not legally </p> </div></div></div> Wed, 18 Nov 2020 05:09:23 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 293735 at http://dagblog.com PP, here is a libertarian http://dagblog.com/comment/293728#comment-293728 <a id="comment-293728"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/293651#comment-293651">Yeah the topic is real hot,I</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>PP, here is a libertarian/Reason op-ed on the college loan thing, in case you are interested:</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">"The most libertarian policy preference in my view is two-pronged: get the federal government out of the lending and guaranteeing game, and make student loan debt reasonably dischargeable in bankruptcy." - <a href="https://twitter.com/MikeRiggs?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@MikeRiggs</a> <a href="https://t.co/ewWwRTP59w">https://t.co/ewWwRTP59w</a></p> — reason (@reason) <a href="https://twitter.com/reason/status/1328900237352718338?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 18, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> </div></div></div> Wed, 18 Nov 2020 03:29:37 +0000 artappraiser comment 293728 at http://dagblog.com Yeah the topic is real hot,I http://dagblog.com/comment/293651#comment-293651 <a id="comment-293651"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/293648#comment-293648">Not all is GOP disinfo.</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Yeah the topic is real hot,I've seen lots of arguments going on, people very passionate one way or another, not many calm on it.</p> </div></div></div> Tue, 17 Nov 2020 09:33:48 +0000 artappraiser comment 293651 at http://dagblog.com Not all is GOP disinfo. http://dagblog.com/comment/293648#comment-293648 <a id="comment-293648"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/biden-s-main-political-opponent-right-wing-misinfo-remains-unvanquished-33055">Biden’s main political opponent - right-wing misinfo.- remains unvanquished</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Not all is GOP disinfo.</p> <p>My parents saved a lot for college. Our neighbors not so much, taking the numerous vacations we never got. Still sticks in my mother's craw after all these years.
