So help me God."

There are historic reasons that "support and defend the Constitution" come before "obey the orders of the President." In basic training there was a class where it was explained that we have a duty to disobey unconstitutional orders. Likely because of My Lai massacre and the prosecution of Lt. Calley. I'm sure that officers get more extensive training in this area than enlisted people. I was just obeying orders is not a legitimate defense.

Mon, 04 Jan 2021 00:09:10 +0000 ocean-kat comment 296783 at http://dagblog.com note the authors include Dick http://dagblog.com/comment/296782#comment-296782
In reply to Op-ed by all 10 living former defense secretaries:

note the authors include Dick Cheney & Don Rumsfeld! complete list:

Opinion by Ashton Carter, Dick Cheney, William Cohen, Mark Esper, Robert Gates, Chuck Hagel, James Mattis, Leon Panetta, William Perry and Donald Rumsfeld

Jan. 3, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. EST

Mon, 04 Jan 2021 00:07:44 +0000 artappraiser comment 296782 at http://dagblog.com second time I re-posted this http://dagblog.com/comment/296769#comment-296769
In reply to I wonder if this joint

second time I re-posted this recently:

After Mike Flynn endorses idea that Trump should impose martial law and suspend the constitution, America's top soldier, Gen.
