New gov't programs, initiatives, legislation etc. are the last thing they want to do, the goal is to stop Dems from doing that, as with ACA.</p> <p>If the GOP wanted to get rid of the legislative filibuster they would already have done it. It is their bulwark to disable Dems and hobble the federal gov't from progressive legislative programs and laws.</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 06 Jan 2021 17:05:11 +0000 NCD comment 296990 at http://dagblog.com But we're 1 Senator away from http://dagblog.com/comment/296982#comment-296982 <a id="comment-296982"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/296981#comment-296981">Seriously, Dems must ditch</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>But we're 1 Senator away from losing the majority. Both can be done filibuster exempt, with 'budget reconciliation', as used to pass their last tax 1 1/2 trillion cuts under Trump.</p> <p>Added plus, the GOP can block any progressive legislation with 40 votes, showing 'gov't doesn't work'.</p> <p>Unfortunately, they probably won't ditch the filibuster, Josh at TPM. paywall, Josh - "Dems will <a href="https://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/this-is-a-big-big-big-deal">get to have votes</a> on 'big stuff'....." ...at least Dems can raise taxes and use 'budget reconciliation' to fund projects/policy under existing law.</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 06 Jan 2021 14:25:51 +0000 NCD comment 296981 at http://dagblog.com Lol http://dagblog.com/comment/296980#comment-296980 <a id="comment-296980"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/296979#comment-296979">Tops for first 100 days,</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Lol</p> <p>I want to know about the alien bodies in Area 51 and the hidden spacecraft</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 06 Jan 2021 14:04:36 +0000 rmrd0000 comment 296980 at http://dagblog.com Tops for first 100 days, http://dagblog.com/comment/296979#comment-296979 <a id="comment-296979"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/296978#comment-296978">Comey sticks dick in again</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Tops for first 100 days, Biden must come clean on Hillary's emails!</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 06 Jan 2021 13:39:12 +0000 NCD comment 296979 at http://dagblog.com Comey sticks dick in again http://dagblog.com/comment/296978#comment-296978 <a id="comment-296978"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/republican-party-consumed-malevolent-tribalism-33514">Republican Party Consumed by Malevolent Tribalism</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Comey sticks dick in again</p> <p>(just in case you thought he had any shame)</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">If you harbored any doubts about whether DOJ under Biden should prosecute Trump, allow me to lay them to rest. <a href="https://t.co/HeRkLda26Q">https://t.co/HeRkLda26Q</a></p> — Brian Beutler (@brianbeutler) <a href="https://twitter.com/brianbeutler/status/1346703748878520320?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 6, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> </div></div></div> Wed, 06 Jan 2021 13:12:12 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 296978 at http://dagblog.com Spreading the Trump virus http://dagblog.com/comment/296976#comment-296976 <a id="comment-296976"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/296975#comment-296975">hilarious</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Spreading the Trump virus</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">The last-ditch pro-Trump rally in downtown DC began with a speaker encouraging Trump fans to spread Covid to each other.
