I've seen no evidence that systems with state censorship don't survive. Even the rare times they fail, like the Soviet Union, it's not the state censorship that brought them down, but the economy. And if state censorship is lax for a time after the downfall it's quickly reinstated.

@Navalny's arrest seems to me a repetition of mistakes made in the Soviet era, seen elsewhere now in the case against #Assange and the war on whistleblowers. States are developing an allergy to opposition—but systems that cannot accept dissent will not survive it. Let him go.
