I would phrase it more like this: the goal is to achieve some wide immunity as quickly as possible in order to put a big damper on these kind of mutations that are both far more transmissable and more deadly. Combo of lockdown and vaccination is working on the UK mutation.

Still, I am thinking he is thinking of greater good and reaching some herd immunity, I am still not convinced that J&J would be the wise choice for every individual. Smart people who believe in taking responsibility for their own health will dig further.
