But If 20% of those other people also got vaccinated, those "bad conditions" got significantly better. There's a Bayesian framing based on "how many cases actually exist" that makes the % change not just a multiplier but closer to exponential</p> <p>And then there's the decrease in severity if you're vaccinated, including the greatly decreased chance you'll die, not expressed in these numbers. Meaning the famous "herd immunity" is actually more reachable</p> </div></div></div> Tue, 09 Mar 2021 02:53:00 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 301969 at http://dagblog.com surprise, not all nasty anti http://dagblog.com/comment/301967#comment-301967 <a id="comment-301967"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/covid-news-biden-enough-vaccine-every-american-end-may-34005">[COVID NEWS] Biden: enough vaccine for every adult American by the end of May</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>surprise, not all nasty anti-maskers are white guys and some live in california:</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">Anti-maskers in California physically assault and cough on an Uber driver <a href="https://t.co/k5fyhyvid2">pic.twitter.com/k5fyhyvid2</a></p> — Fifty Shades of Whey (@davenewworld_2) <a href="https://twitter.com/davenewworld_2/status/1369112642128863233?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 9, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> <p> </p> </div></div></div> Tue, 09 Mar 2021 02:31:14 +0000 artappraiser comment 301967 at http://dagblog.com MILESTONE news! http://dagblog.com/comment/301959#comment-301959 <a id="comment-301959"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/covid-news-biden-enough-vaccine-every-american-end-may-34005">[COVID NEWS] Biden: enough vaccine for every adult American by the end of May</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>MILESTONE news!</p> <p><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/03/08/world/covid-19-coronavirus#covid-vaccine-cdc-guidelines">Vaccinated Americans may gather indoors in small groups but should still wear masks in public, the C.D.C. said.</a></p> <p>just published @ NYTimes Covid live updates</p> </div></div></div> Tue, 09 Mar 2021 01:03:39 +0000 artappraiser comment 301959 at http://dagblog.com
