(except with Dick Cheney). So word-of-mouth/direct experience is what I think had more effect than TV, though people talking about it more from say 2000 on turned it from a Liberace edge case and the less it was associated with just HIV &amp; diseased people helped lower the scare.</p> </div></div></div> Thu, 08 Apr 2021 10:06:07 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 303621 at http://dagblog.com No, it won't change you into http://dagblog.com/comment/303619#comment-303619 <a id="comment-303619"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/comment/303613#comment-303613">&quot;Does the Woke Mob Have the</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>No, it won't change you into a violent prejudiced criminal but a sufficient amount of propaganda will shift the consciousness of enough people to precipitate change. It was the propaganda in films and TV that was a major part of what shifted the consciousness of people to a more accepting attitude toward gays. Let's not trivialize it Let us at least acknowledge that propaganda can be effective.</p> </div></div></div> Thu, 08 Apr 2021 09:27:03 +0000 ocean-kat comment 303619 at http://dagblog.com A great piece by @TomChivers. http://dagblog.com/comment/303614#comment-303614 <a id="comment-303614"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/cancelling-issues-youtube-won-t-pull-video-amid-staff-outcry-over-anti-asian-lyrics-34152">[CANCELLING Issues] YouTube Won’t Pull Video Amid Staff Outcry Over Anti-Asian Lyrics</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">A great piece by <a href="https://twitter.com/TomChivers?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@TomChivers</a>.<br /><br /> Which is why face validity (<a href="https://t.co/1Y5lSalu0M">https://t.co/1Y5lSalu0M</a>) is so important in social science and why 'critical approaches' violate it<a href="https://t.co/6BWpgXplHX">https://t.co/6BWpgXplHX</a></p> — Eric Kaufmann (@epkaufm) <a href="https://twitter.com/epkaufm/status/1379753846868738051?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 7, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async="" charset="utf-8" height="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" width=""></script></div> </div></div></div> Thu, 08 Apr 2021 08:27:36 +0000 artappraiser comment 303614 at http://dagblog.com "Does the Woke Mob Have the http://dagblog.com/comment/303613#comment-303613 <a id="comment-303613"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/cancelling-issues-youtube-won-t-pull-video-amid-staff-outcry-over-anti-asian-lyrics-34152">[CANCELLING Issues] YouTube Won’t Pull Video Amid Staff Outcry Over Anti-Asian Lyrics</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>"Does the Woke Mob Have the Guts to Cancel Rap?  An anti-Asian song just got censored: fluke or harbinger?"</p> <p> </p><div class="media_embed"> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" height="" width=""> <p dir="ltr" lang="en" xml:lang="en">I think one of the big false beliefs driving censorship is that words cast a magic spell over someone.
