The Carnegie site is pretty good. The result is largely status quo but standdown of military threat, which lets Kiev focus on EU/economics, Donbas - a tiny and less-and-less important coal district - is still in the doghouse but not a big threat, kick the can down the road. All good. There's no real strategic value to Russia taking Donbas. Mariupol is probably not worth the outrage (there'd be much more than with Crimea).

Fri, 23 Apr 2021 04:54:22 +0000 PeraclesPlease comment 304407 at http://dagblog.com There is some dispute over http://dagblog.com/comment/304390#comment-304390
In reply to hah hah, looks more like

There is a much less simplistic case to be made than 'who bluffed' and 'who called the bluff'. Also here and here.

Fri, 23 Apr 2021 03:08:18 +0000 A Guy Called LULU comment 304390 at http://dagblog.com hah hah, looks more like http://dagblog.com/comment/304371#comment-304371
In reply to Oh noes, Joe deescalates?
