I can say that downtown SF, always filled with strange people, suddenly had a bit of an old west vibration. I was working a job there and was struck by how harsh the roughness of its occupants was - it felt like the whole city was now homeless. Unlike Seattle or Portland, SF was aware of how screwed up it can be and is able to deal with it.</p> <p>On the other hand, people were really friendly. Not what you would expect from such a rough exterior. Once industry is started up again like it was before Covid, we will see what superstar cities are like.
