Bias verification for me > I have a family member who is involved in real estate around the country, and has abodes in both Santa Monica and FL (not Miami!) and he has been saying exactly the same thing as below for about three years now, that his area in CA which was once "a paradise" has become "hopelessly, utterly ruined", gone to hell, and that he very much prefers FL (and it's governor, BTW): that it's laid back and lacking stress like southern CA used to be

What's sad about having lived in SF off and on for the past 20+ years is watching it go from a mostly normal city with some weirdness here and there, to one where rampant crime, open-air drug use and mental illness, and a total lack of order reigns. It's just the new normal now.

And mho, we don't have the epidemic half as bad as some other states.
