The BLM march in Dublin during summer 2020 is an interesting case study in how an innacurate take propagates. The conventional wisdom was the march was given special allowance bc 'the establishment' supported the message.

The meme started basically by copying the rhetoric from the US. The reality was the BLM march in Ireland, as far as popular knowledge went, was basically hugely unimportant if even noticed.

So it was a meme among the chattering classes, a hugely significant example of elite malevolence for a while, an example of how the little man was being crushed by the establishment. For 80%+ of the popualtion it was a non issue
