though there is pride in general Caribbean culture as well - i.e. Puerto Ricans and Jamaicans etc. are seen like "brothers," with the exception the one thing you sense is that none of them want to have anything to do with the Haiti or Haitian national history, they are not proud of it, they don't want anything to do with Haiti, not at all proud that it was a country formed by slaves.
