We have become addicted to eye candy. It takes less time and is easier to watch a move rather than read the book, even though the book is richer in details that the movie glosses over. And the message in the movie can be different than the message in the book. Explains why there's a lot of right wing video propoganda on the internet...mixing messages with myths.

Oh, I think the reality in those shows is already highly manipulated. I was just reading somewhere about retakes in a reality show.
