Corbyn only got in Sept 2015, was milquetoast in providing an opposition and never made it clear whether he supported Brexit or not, plus he shit his own nest with the anti-Semitism thing. After lots of hints & threats (basically several episodes of Sister Souljahing with no great results), Keir Starmer beat him out in Apr 2020, and now Corbyn's either out of the party or effectively so. Yes, he was a shite leader to have in at the time, but it's doubtful that Starmer earlier could've held off the anti-immigration and irrational EU hatred/bring back the empire fervor that shook the nation.
