I can't think of anything new to add, but feel the need to weigh in. This is right up there with calling the fist lady trash, maybe even worse...Fox just doesn't get it, and they need to.

I'm loath to defend Fox, but the show did air before the latest four soldiers were killed. Still, even a minimum of research would have shown that over 100 had died, hopefully prompting the show's producer to think twice about mocking Canada's war effort.

I am deeply sorry as an American about the comments regarding your fallen soldiers. I agree with the many comments on here related to the dignity and honor with which the Canadian people honor and remember those that have served. I also agree that there needs to be outrage over this sort of commentary especially from a news organization who so readily decried any of the protesters throughout the Iraq war as unpatriotic. Hit fox where it hurts, in the wallet. The comments about Michelle Obama as trash were equally bizarre and repugnant. The Bachmann comments, as well as those from Pete Sessions, seemed to almost be advocating a position of armed resistance. I have no idea how they ca say these things and get away with it but it only reinforces much of the popular sentiment that the powerful, rich and/or well connected live in a completely different country than the one that I live in.

On the contrary, this slur is very much worth the indignation and more. Conservatives have gone off the deep end with their attacks. This one against Canadian soldiers was particularly egregious and then there was the trash talker calling the Obamas trash, not to mention the insurrection oratory of Backman and Sessions.

I thought when Obama was elected we would see change for the better from those vile people, but they seem to have become even worse, and after all the election angst I still WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!

Payback is a bitch. Doug Benson, the doofus comedian who made the asinine comment that he didn't know Canadians were fighting in Afghanistan just lost a bunch of money. He was supposed to do an engagement at a comedy club in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. As it so happens, Edmonton is the home of the First Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group and there is a very large military installation nearby. The club where he was supposed to appear received a number of threats against Benson and cancelled his gig. Actually, it might have been better to keep quiet and then boo him off the stage on successive nights until he was fired--or been literally booted off the stage.
