I don't think it's a good idea to start restricting any jobs to US citizens only. Our immigration policies are already crazy complicated (which is why, by the way, we have such a high rate of undocumented immigrants). I agree with tying some strings to the bailout money, like compensation, but restricting further who they hire is short-sighted. I read the Friedman column and have to agree with basically all of it.

Been waiting all morning for this! Dagbuzz is good. You did a good job today, it is becoming second nature to you!.

One dress out of how many and you put a thumb on her? Yes it was shockingly bad espcially after what we had seen but the rest of the time she looks great except when she looks just FAB-U-LOUS and that is a lot of the time. And I am going refrain from pantsuit talk because of youknowwho.

God bless the dog, yours and the westminster winner. All dogs are a special gift to us humans but spaniels (I was raised with some), uh, well, I wouldn't name a dog stump for a bunch of money, espcially any spainel. Just a little too close to home.

I'm going to start with a quote from the NYT oped that is a quote.

Up until the 1980's one in four americans was of GERMAN decent. My father said "I never thought they would elect an Irishman for President" when they elected JFK. My business, house painting (interior only) is greatly affected by illegal immigrant workers - other businesses hire them and underbid me. I want to buy the least expensive food that is still good and that means it will be picked by immigrant labor. I agree so strongly with the quote above - I believe so strongly in the american dream for eveyone my heart like to burst outta my chest whenever I think about it. I am angry about illegal labor. English as a second language teachers have more than quadrupled in public schools in the last 5 years while science teaches have decreased. What the f? I am open to all LEGAL immigrants and have to agree with Friedman. If they have a work visa bring them on. Meanwhile let's put an equal amount of money into science education in K-12 schools so we will have enough home grown. I have lots of mixed ideas about immigrants and that is because it is a complex issue.

Anyway, I think this 'crisis' is going to sweep a lot of excesses out of our system including excessive immigration.
