The Vatican could at least say that 3,500 women leaving daily that most Catholic of countries, the Philippines, to work in 168 countries as housekeepers, maids, cooks and nannies, liberated the better-off, the well-off and the downright rich women from the drudgery of household work.

Hey, I'm impressed that the article even conceded the contraceptive pill was in the running. Get used to it. Ex-Nazi though he may be, this pope is the most liberal we will see in our lifetimes. The Catholic Church is dying in the West, and the African bishops who are coming to prominence will take it much, much further to the right.
