I would also bet my bottom dollar that these self same resentful neuvo riche are also in hock up to their eyeballs on the cars, homes and especially credit cards. No wonder they would not feel rich.

I admire Buffet's lucidity and I admit that I had doubts about putting Gates with Buffet, but I put them aside because Buffet is donating his money to Gate's foundation and observing how acute Buffet is in allocating funds, I thought that he must know what he is doing. Buffet's assesment of Gates is higher then my own and I bow to his superior wisdom.

David has given a very good look into how the haves think. You have a group who remember where they came from and realize we are all in this together . Others want to forget where they came from and are scared they could lose it all.

Excellent comment, destor. If men like Buffett and Gates wanted to, they could force the system to become more equitable, much like the Kochs are forcing it to become less so. Instead of true political action, we get empty rhetoric and hand-wringing about the plight of the average American.

There are the rich and then there are the rich. I do appreciate Buffett and Gates (both Jr. and Sr.), mainly because they go against the grain and actually think it's cool to help the downtrodden. They've chosen not to hide in ivory towers and thus have allowed themselves to consider the cruelties of poverty and neglect. They are the rarities. Sad, isn't it?
