Dick I just was looking into the Amerithrax case, and saw an analysis of the FBI case against Bruce Ivins by a Michael Green, a retired Professor at the Univ. of Texas at Austin, at link.

Professor Green notes that the spores traced to Ivins government lab were also available to 100 or more others, and they were in LIQUID form, not weaponized! Green references an article from the Wash. Post from 2002, highlighting the difficulty in making the spores so deadly, quoting a UN expert on biological warfare:

"In my opinion, there are maybe four or five people in the whole country who might be able to make this stuff, and I'm one of them," said Richard O. Spertzel, chief biological inspector for the U.N. Special Commission from 1994 to 1998. "And even with a good lab and staff to help run it, it might take me a year to come up with a product as good."

The final report of the FBI says Ivins dried, reduced crystal size to microns, coated with silica, and imparted a small electric charge to aid dispersal, his liquid anthrax spores OVER A FEW EVENINGS after 9/11 all by himself!

The UN guy said in 2002 it would take a good lab a year!

Bribes - Green mentions a report in the Washington Post, from 2008:

It was around the time that FBI agents showed Ivins's 24-year-old daughter pictures of the victims who had died in the 2001 anthrax attacks and told her, "Your father did this," the scientist said. The agents also offered her twin brother the $2.5 million reward for solving the anthrax case -- and the sports car of his choice.

I just have vague recollections of all this, really. One of those things I filed away a long time ago.

Dead guys don't talk and they do not stand for trial.

Bush and Cheney might also answer some questions about why they were reported to have started the powerful antibiotic CIPRO, useful to prevent infection by anthrax spores, ONE WEEK before the FIRST anthrax letter was mailed. Of course, coming right after 9/11, and as Bush/Cheney ginned up the fear of Saddam, it was all too easy for major US news outlets like ABC to link the deadly anthrax attacks to Saddam, while Brian Ross of ABC also used the anthrax attacks to link Saddam to the 9/11 terrorists.

Oh, the FBI solved the Amerithrax case after...9 years?

The FBI blamed the fatal attacks, and the anti-Israel/US Muslim implicating note below (This is next. Death to America. Death to Israel. Allah is Great.) in the envelopes, on a dead guy who worked for the US government. Dead guys don't talk, they also can't stand trial or defend themselves in court. Co-workers doubted the man's involvement, there were questions as to whether he could have been in NJ at the time the letters were mailed, and he had no clear motive to mail letters to the leading Democrats in the Senate as these leaders were being asked to approve the 'Patriot Act'.

Some experts said that such a dangerous and complex anthrax spore attack must have been prepared BEFORE 9/11 to be ready to go one week later. I have never seen a follow-up on the lawsuit mentioned above, yet, as Gore Vidal has opined;

..Post 9/11, the American media were filled with pre-emptory denunciations of unpatriotic `conspiracy theorists', who not only are always with us but are usually easy for the media to discredit since it is an article of faith that there are no conspiracies in American life.
