The wonder of humanity is that our brains all interpret information differently, allowing two rational people to have completely opposing opinions. Cool, huh?

Sat, 09 Oct 2010 21:17:30 +0000 Orlando comment 87803 at http://dagblog.com Might everyone be happy with http://dagblog.com/comment/87782#comment-87782
In reply to (No subject)

Might everyone be happy with some reversal of emphasis? For example:

a) the "dag blog" title (the font, btw, especially in all lower case, is one I really like) might be rendered in black on a white background and the dagger might appear but be de-emphasized by rendering it in that softer mid-screen gray? Or,

b) because you've created title blocks for everything but the blog title, might you consider creating an actual title block for "dag blog"? Its background in the dark gray you used for the background in "From the Readers" and "Latest Comments;" the font in white to provide strong contrast, and the dagger in the paler gray of your contributor bar background?

An actual title block would provide you with a "two/fer." Not only would it lend emphasis to the title of the site, but it would also ground the headlines that, to me, seem to still float in an amorphous way. By aligning horizontals and verticals, you would then have a "framed" bar containing "dag blog"on the left, headlines in the middle, and your book ad on the right?

These suggestions, btw, should please the "centrist" contingent who are best pleased by incremental change to the status quo.

Sat, 09 Oct 2010 18:52:20 +0000 wws comment 87782 at http://dagblog.com OK, let me offer a http://dagblog.com/comment/87779#comment-87779
In reply to Why not make the drop of

OK, let me offer a compromise. Genghis is adamant about keeping the dagger, so it stays. But David thinks it symbolizes right-wing extremism. How about if the dagger were sticking into a heart, overlaid with a scroll reading, "Mom." I think I saw a few tattoos like that, last time I was in the big house. It sorta implies, "We love our mother, but she broke our hearts by dying/weaning us/moving to Peoria with some biker." Who can't relate to that?

Sat, 09 Oct 2010 18:24:20 +0000 acanuck comment 87779 at http://dagblog.com So we need a Elmer Fudd look http://dagblog.com/comment/87778#comment-87778
In reply to It's Dagnabbit. If somebody asked me to recommend someone to design and construct an interactive corporate web site I would send them Genghis's address in a flash.

The question for me has to be exactly what is it all for? What is the object of the exercise? Certainly if this is supposed to be a progressive political junky blog, the dagger doesn't make any sense. At best it looks like some sort of role play, computer game, environment. For me the logo symbolizes a certain lack of definition.

Sat, 09 Oct 2010 16:59:41 +0000 David Seaton comment 87766 at http://dagblog.com Rootie, I'm really starting http://dagblog.com/comment/87761#comment-87761
In reply to (No subject)

Rootie, I'm really starting to dig you.

Sat, 09 Oct 2010 16:21:39 +0000 Orlando comment 87761 at http://dagblog.com Rolling and laughing!!!! http://dagblog.com/comment/87757#comment-87757
In reply to In light of all the lovely

Rolling and laughing!!!! Boy, are you for some serious ribbing!

But; whew; that's settled. Two tiny issues? The default font size for comments? Yeah, I can change it, but...

And the Blockquote boxes? Do you like how they look? They make my eyes and head hurt...but then again, way too many things make my eyes and head hurt. ;o)

Sat, 09 Oct 2010 15:29:22 +0000 we are stardust comment 87757 at http://dagblog.com (No subject) http://dagblog.com/comment/87756#comment-87756
In reply to For what it's worth, I've

Sat, 09 Oct 2010 15:28:15 +0000 Rootman comment 87756 at http://dagblog.com But why a dagger in the first http://dagblog.com/comment/87751#comment-87751
In reply to In light of all the lovely

But why a dagger in the first place? ...
