The primary reason that the Republicans are still in the game because Democrats don't have the killer instinct tat they do. The Dems have been spineless, and the American people don't like weakness. The Republicans know that - that's why they wear ten gallon hats. They know that the closer they come to being reminding America of John Wayne, the better - that's what made Reagan so popular. And of course, that puts Barack at a distinct disadvantage.

You have to have character, courage, and a sense of selflessness to be a bleeding heart. Those qualities have been rendered old fashion in today's society. The primary reason for that is contemporary politicians are too poorly educated to become inspired. Public service is no longer considered "a calling" - it's simply a nice gig, if you can get it.

So do I, and I'm still idealistic as well. I don't know what I would do if I were not. At this point in my life that's all that's left, but I've found that it's quite enough.
