Yes -- bribery and extortion. Lobbyists bribe politicians to extort money from taxpayers and give it to their clients.

This re-direction of resources is offensive to citizerns of every political stripe -- progressive, conservative, moderate, liberal. Why haven't we joined forces to stop this corrupt tax-and-spend system? Have we been distracted by political theater that keeps us fixated on more divisive issues?

I bring this up whenever I can but the greatest model of bribery and extortion in politics was created by Rick Perry. The sonofabitch sets up this fund with taxpayer monies--supposedly to 'reward' the companies who are innovative and all the companies that were awarded funds by special order of the Governor then tithed his campaign chest. Just blatant theft on the part of the chief executive of Texas.

The politicians do not even care whether these 'contributions' can be traced or not--excepting Rove's boondoggle and the Chamber of Commerce.

Our representatives just openly tell the corporations that own everbody and everything to 'give' in order to 'get'.

It is as simple as that.
