Well, it's true I did manage to see all this stuff within a few short minutes of surfing.

While the antics we anticipate and the coverage that gets is bad long term for the country in that it usually takes minds away from issues and what's going on with the actual running of the country, in this short term instance we will at least have the benefit of the inevitable overreach that dooms them time and again and that this time the Senate will play grownup from time to time after the antics have died down. It surely would help, though, if "the media" wouldn't pander to the utmost, and unlike others, I do very much include the blogosphere and "new media" in the media, most notably sites like TPM which emphasize the day-to-day antics over anything else, I think this all grows worse than ever before with most of the "new media."
