The party should "never" have allowed Coakley to run such a pathetic race. There was far too much at stake. It appeared that the Dems weren't even aware of the Mass election until it was too late to save that moron. The word HUBRIS has been voiced to a great extent over the past decade and I would apply it to what occurred in Mass.

Sat, 08 Jan 2011 23:04:00 +0000 chucktrotter comment 101613 at http://dagblog.com As usual, excellent job http://dagblog.com/comment/101610#comment-101610
In reply to Politics

As usual, excellent job Barth. This is one of the best and a must read for anyone who wants to craft a narrative and assessment of "what happened" over the past two years.

Sat, 08 Jan 2011 22:44:00 +0000 Elusive Trope comment 101610 at http://dagblog.com That election had more to do http://dagblog.com/comment/101609#comment-101609
In reply to When the Dems "gave away" the

That election had more to do with a politician running an awful campaign than the larger Dem-GOP dynamic. Given how Brown has voted since getting to DC, this hasn't been a total victory for the GOP and its base.

Sat, 08 Jan 2011 22:36:31 +0000 Elusive Trope comment 101609 at http://dagblog.com When the Dems "gave away" the http://dagblog.com/comment/101608#comment-101608
In reply to Politics

When the Dems "gave away" the Senate in Mass., I knew we were hunting buffalo with a BB gun when it came to out-maneuvering the GOP. My greatest fears have become a reality!

Sat, 08 Jan 2011 22:28:00 +0000 chucktrotter comment 101608 at http://dagblog.com Damn, I had to read this http://dagblog.com/comment/101585#comment-101585
In reply to Politics

Damn, I had to read this three times.

This is complicated stuff.

For awhile we had 60 votes but one or two senators from our party would jump ship.

I thought Rachel was wrong on this.
