This headline does not seem to me to be hyperbolic, if that is your complaint, nor does its suggestion that the media has neglected coverage of the coming trial seem overdone at the time the charge was made. David Corn's piece, "A Terrorism Trial in the US Neglected by the Media", is dated Jan.7, and in the first paragraph makes the point that, considering the magnitude of the crime, the trial is not getting much coverage by saying that the story is hardly getting a media blitz.

Corn linked to a Nation preview dated Jan 4. of a story scheduled for the January 24 edition. Coverage by The Nation could hardly be a media blitz if that was all they wrote about, but The Nation and Mother Jones are media, as you say. The NPR link you provide is dated Jan.9. as is the CNN video, as is the LA Times op-ed, all after the Mother Jones article, so the headline could be accurate at its time of publication, although I cannot say how much coverage the story had received before. If it had received major coverage I think I would have noticed some of it.

Anyway, the accused is an old man and is said to be sick. If he is convicted maybe they will let him go somewhere besides prison to live out his last days. Scotland might be nice and they seem to be quite understanding of that sort of thing.

Wed, 12 Jan 2011 05:50:16 +0000 A Guy Called LULU comment 102277 at http://dagblog.com Op-Ed: Cuban exile on http://dagblog.com/comment/102266#comment-102266
In reply to A Terrorism Trial in the US Neglected by the Media

Op-Ed: Cuban exile on trial

The case against Cuban exile Luis Posada Carriles is remarkable for the cooperation it has produced between the Cuban and U.S. governments.

By Peter Kornbluh and Julia E. The blogosphere especially seems to like to discuss the single hot topic of the day 24/7 point by point as the story develops, while complaining that "the media" is not forcing them to listen to stories on other topics but chasing the ratings/mouse clicks of any feeding frenzy story phenomenon. The reality is probably more like: when there's a feeding frenzy story, grab the cash of the mouse clicks and teevee ratings in order to pay for covering other stories that few want to read about or talk about.

To be clear: I'm not complaining about you, mho, you're on the right side simply by wanting to promote paying attention to the story by reposting it here.

Mon, 10 Jan 2011 02:03:27 +0000 artappraiser comment 101896 at http://dagblog.com Thanks for the heads up Lulu. http://dagblog.com/comment/101605#comment-101605
In reply to A Terrorism Trial in the US Neglected by the Media

Thanks for the heads up Lulu.
