The point about Miller and the redemptionist movement is an excellent one.

And apparently, David Wynn Miller agrees that he and Loughner are on the same page, even if he disavows knowing Loughner or any responsibility for Loughner's crimes:

For his part, Miller tells The Daily Beast/Newsweek that Loughner has never reached out to him, but that “I expect he’s been on my website… He’s just repeating things I’ve had up on my site the past 11 years.”

Limbaugh is on a new rant, dissing the speech and saying that civility is just a cover for free speech impingement. I just left Media Matters again.

If I had a billion dollars, why on earth would I get on the radio every single day and preach hatred?

He could be at the richest resorts in the world, visiting the greatest museums, conversing with genius...

Instead he sits there yelling and screaming.

Rush has a consistency that Beck does not.Beck appears to me to be manic-depressive and he might even hear voices.

But Rush just hates and hates and hates. That is not nihilism.

I would think that nihilism would result in ennui.

I wonder if Loughner has a tattoo of an A within and O, something like this:

I read something about grammar control the other day but didn't follow up until I read your post here:

According to the Southern Poverty Law Centre, a U.S. civil rights group, Loughner's language and beliefs appeared to resemble those of David Wynn Miller, a Milwaukee-based activist who believes the U.S. government uses grammar to control people's minds.

Miller, 62, a retired welder, has described himself as a plenipotentiary judge, ambassador, banker, genius and King of Hawaii, and invented his own form of grammar called "truth language", that is said to set people free of the government.

He said he was appalled by the shootings, but agreed with Loughner's pre-shooting Internet statement that "the government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar". Miller told the Milwaukee Journal that Loughner could have visited his website but he didn't know him and he was "obviously disturbed".

Good blog Donal. Nearly everyone today on the political right seems to hold the same belief that THEY should be exempt from any humane actions and responsibility. As I had stated before, far too many of them come off as spoiled, badly parented, self centered 2 year olds. Complete with the ever present temper tantrums and screaming. But add a weapon to this mix and you have a potentially hazardous situation indeed.
