It's like I don't even recognize the place anymore. Given Wisconsin's place in history as the birthplace of so much of the Labor Movement that defined our politics these last hundred years, these retrenchments toward corporate fascism and actual serfdom are stunningly demoralizing.

Napolitiano's replacement with Brewer in AZ presented opportunity for an uncontrolled GOP government to show what they've got in the area of Immigration Policy and the Culture Wars.

And now in Wisconsin, the same dynamic is showing what an unfettered GOP offers in terms of the Class War between Labor and "those who matter" (Wall Street and the Chamber of Commerce).

Don't read this as an endorsement of the Dems as an antidote to the GOP's wholesale promotion of corporate fascism. (Preemptive announcement that you're willing to call out the National Guard to enforce Union-busting? YeeGads!) The Dems have done little to reverse the trend that has brought us to this point in our history. Instead, they have simply arrested the downward slide with a pretense of representing the "little guy" while making certain they first do nothing to alienate their corporate campaign contributors. Feckless cowards at best. Complicit fascists in reality, selling us all out in pursuit of their primary objective: Getting reelected with the help of the same "monied constituency" that supports the "other side."

Something's gotta give. This shit can't continue.

Sat, 12 Feb 2011 18:25:53 +0000 SleepinJeezus comment 106351 at http://dagblog.com How the hell can this guy http://dagblog.com/comment/106346#comment-106346
In reply to GOP led Wisconsin is "Open for Business!"

How the hell can this guy pass a bill that basically removes any collective bargaining rights? And now he wants to have the National Guard ready to face down labour?
