Power in Libya is even more concentrated than it was in Egypt. Gaddafi has vast amounts of money to fund a crackdown, and a much smaller population that he has to cow into submission. Using mercenaries with no affinity or links to the Libyan people, he is deliberately demonstrating how ruthless he can be. The news blackout makes it hard to predict who'll ultimately win. But, either way, it's going to be very bloody.</p></div></div></div> Sat, 19 Feb 2011 22:01:07 +0000 acanuck comment 107085 at http://dagblog.com Chilling--warning of death http://dagblog.com/comment/107082#comment-107082 <a id="comment-107082"></a> <p><em>In reply to <a href="http://dagblog.com/link/libyan-protesters-risk-suicide-army-hands-9038">Libyan protesters risk &#039;suicide&#039; by army hands</a></em></p> <div class="field field-name-comment-body field-type-text-long field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p>Chilling--warning of death via twitter:</p><div id="content" class="wide"><div class="wrapper"><div id="permalink" class="status"><blockquote><div id="status_39072047644549120" class="hentry u-RuwaydaMustafah status"><span class="status-body"> <span class="status-content"> <span class="entry-content">@<a class="tweet-url username" rel="nofollow" href="http://twitter.com/Tripolitanian">Tripolitanian</a>: Do not report protests in any area until crowds are large enough to avoid massacre from security forces in <a class="tweet-url hashtag" title="#Libya" rel="nofollow" href="http://twitter.com/search?q=%23Libya">#Libya</a>.</span> </span> <span class="meta entry-meta"> <a class="entry-date" rel="bookmark" href="http://twitter.com/RuwaydaMustafah/status/39072047644549120"> <span class="published timestamp">1 minute ago</span></a> <span>via web</span> </span> </span></div></blockquote><div class="user-info clear"><blockquote><div class="thumb"><a class="tweet-url profile-pic" hreflang="en" href="http://twitter.com/RuwaydaMustafah"><img style="vertical-align: middle;" src="http://a0.twimg.com/profile_images/1152457696/meh_bigger.jpg" alt="" border="0" height="73" width="73" /></a></div> <div><a class="tweet-url screen-name" title="Ruwayda Mustafah" hreflang="en" href="http://twitter.com/RuwaydaMustafah">RuwaydaMustafah</a></div> <div class="full-name">Ruwayda Mustafah</div></blockquote></div></div></div></div></div></div></div> Sat, 19 Feb 2011 21:25:03 +0000 artappraiser comment 107082 at http://dagblog.com
