"Sin" is a hot-button word. Pat Robertson stepped in dog crap when he proclaimed that Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment of New Orleans. Yet it seems reasonable to me that the frequency of dangerous weather patterns is increasing due to climate changes that are worsened by the sin of carbon pollution. The root of that sin is the love of money, the same root that is leaking radiation into the world.

Heaven help us help ourselves.

Absolutely. I think that some here think my choice of screen name suggests a militant attitude on my part. It does not. If anything, it indicates a "coming out", although IRL I wouldn't say I'm completely "out" as an atheist. (I allow many friends and relatives to assume I'm still a Christian, although I never actively encourage that belief.)

Thanks, I am always happy to see this aspect of the Evangelical movement.

Coalitions are so very important. Without the good Christians many governmental provided safety nets would never have been created; Civil Rights legislation would never have been created...

Well of course you're lucky, Watt! You have loving care within your family, good neighbors, and an exquisite sense of the possiblilities before you, and are still able to reflect calmly while you watch your golden Namuzu neutralizers! But you also might want to score some potassium iodine tablets just in case.

I loved reading this, Watt. I think it's your best ever, as a matter of fact. But no; I don't think sins come into it, save for the 'sins' of the greedy and powerful who are the authors of much of it.
