I can visualize a huge super tanker that's lost it's anchor and is drifting with the current and having near misses with other moored ships and close encounters with reefs and almost running aground on shallow shoals while the half of the ship's crew argues over who's in charge while the other half tries their best to avoid the dangers.

I understand your position. I think that bombing targets as part of a UN sanctioned humanitarian effort does not require approval of Congress at the outset under the war powers act (with which I diagreed when it passed in the 1970s, though I understood it was facing up to the reality of the world in which we now live.) After listening to all that stuff about Preesident Bush "taking us to war" and the flimsy nature of the legislation that supposedly "authorized" it, I am in no mood to complain about it while people are raped and murdered and we---all the nations in concert together--- are able to stop it.

There is not one repub currently in the almost running category that I do not detest.

There are levels of detestation of course.

But I cannot imagine how to debate any of them without pulling out a list of their sins, a list of their hypocrisies, a list of their lies, a list of their flip-flops, a list of their historical inacurracies and stop from screaming my bloody head off.

Cut Federal spending that will lead to firing 1,000,000 people and pretend that is good for job creation? So be it says our Speaker!

Forbid the poor and the middle class from receiving proper medical care when they become sick or disabled?

Mandate a retirement age approaching 80?

For a bunch of reasons, I disagree with Obama's decision to send US forces into the Libya operation. But I also believe that his moral compass is pointed in the right direction. My disagreements are procedural, have to do with US politics and US priorities and are also moral in a larger sense (I think that people enlist in the US military to protect the US constitution and that these types of missions betray that contract) but... Obama is doing what he reasoned out as the right thing to do. One can disagree but not dislike.
