Bush's administration was the Motivational Speaker Presidency. It was all about believing in himself.

He had motivation instead of qualifications, willpower instead of brainpower, faith in himself instead of a plan. Reality was just a series of obstacles to be overcome through stick-to-it-iveness and, um, heart.

Foreign policy, and what Matt Yglesias calls the "Green Lantern theory" of foreign policy, in which you can achieve anything through willpower, was only the most obvious example.

Hell, it worked well for Bush. He got two terms as President. It was just bad for everyone else.

At least the customers will be clear on what they're getting.

Wed, 21 Oct 2009 16:31:47 +0000 Doctor Cleveland comment 8995 at http://dagblog.com I'm not sure if he's worth http://dagblog.com/comment/8994#comment-8994
In reply to Think that we can get him to

I'm not sure if he's worth the $19, we can spend that on something more useful, like some bacon related product.

And hey, we all love Zig, I mean his name is Zig!

Wed, 21 Oct 2009 16:23:17 +0000 Larry Jankens comment 8994 at http://dagblog.com Think that we can get him to http://dagblog.com/comment/8992#comment-8992
In reply to George W.
