You can get better prices for certain stuff by doing things like using Ebay or another appropriate market, but if you want to "broom clean" a house in a short period of time, in a location where there's not a huge variety of customers to attend a sale of a few days duration, you are bascially liquidating to resellers mostly, who will profit by taking the time to sell the items to the right buyer. She gets into this with the example of the oriental rugs and other examples. You pay a price for cleaning out an estate quickly. Of course storage fees (including the costs of keeping a house longer to use for storage) factor in, too. But it's good to keep in mind that back in the old days people didn't even have the choice of marketing to a bigger audience like with Ebay, etc.

Wed, 13 Apr 2011 19:38:43 +0000 artappraiser comment 115200 at http://dagblog.com I was drawn to it because of http://dagblog.com/comment/115194#comment-115194
In reply to I'm very impressed by this

I was drawn to it because of family estate issues and shared it with my siblings. I did wonder while reading it what you would think of it so I posted it here as well. Glad you liked it. That's reassuring. :)

Wed, 13 Apr 2011 19:10:38 +0000 EmmaZahn comment 115194 at http://dagblog.com I'm very impressed by this http://dagblog.com/comment/115174#comment-115174
In reply to You've Got It. She really manages to cover all the main important "need to know" points, somehow getting them all into a single piece, and also depicts the different markets very accurately. I may even use it the next time family/friends/acquaintances ask for advice on selling stuff or handling an estate.

Wed, 13 Apr 2011 18:19:14 +0000 artappraiser comment 115174 at http://dagblog.com
