Is this simply a question of where Obama was born or is his actual citizenship in question? Would he not have inherited citizenship through his mother regardless of where he was born?

This tempest in a teapot over the meaning of 'natural born' seems to be taking the definition out of its original context in the Constitution. There were still a lot of royalists living in the brand new United States so limiting the highest office to natural born citizens eliminated the possibility of an English monarch and most of its aristocrats from becoming President.
