The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

    What's Going On...

Since Bernie grief, email/tarmac worries and Donald phobias have been rocking our free world way too much, thought it'd be useful to take a breather and discuss something else. And what an else...

    1) recent spate of cop-on-black killings re-ignites the Ferguson riot scenes from last summer. Will we actually do something about it, will it be left to Hillary, or will it be just part of America's pastoral gun-laden backdrop?

    2) Speaking of guns, still no new legislation despite Congressional sitdown. Nice symbolism, but...

    3) Tony Blair's back saying Britain shouldn't rush to #Brexit the way the Chilcot Report says he & Georgie rushed to war, maybe they can take it all back with #Breferendum 2.0. Hmmm, it's like Murphy's Law and the cat with a buttered piece of bread on its back - should we disbelieve him because he's a self-serving fool, or believe him because as a self-serving fool he knows what he's talking about? And how to take it that he's suddenly concerned about the "will of the people" - do I smell a book deal or jostling for some kind of position in Brussels?

    4) Speaking of the Chilcot Report, somehow the British know how to review an issue and come to sane conclusions, unlike our own investigations of 9/11 and the Iraq War (wait, we did investigate that, didn't we?). Alright, after umpteen Benghazi investigations, we did end up with a mailgate investigation that came slightly close to closing the book on the affair for 7 seconds. By the FBI chaps who brought you entrapment/enticing of Muslims into being terrorists, outrageous evidence hiding in the case of Ted Stevens, and hiding illegal surveillance of US millions...  So is there any way to fix Congressional oversight (short of simply electing adults, which would be simple if it weren't America. Then again, if Britain's any example...)

    5) More large bloody terrorist attacks in Istanbul airport, Dhaka Bangladesh expat district, Iraq market... It looks like the genie's out of the bottle and he's pissed - what do we as presumed liberals think about it and support doing about it? (including Syria, but that's largely progressing already).

    6) Texas abortion stats, conveniently repressed, show abortion restrictions to "help women" push abortions into more dangerous 2nd trimester. (and of course past that commonly accepted "when life begins" marker - no thought for the children, eh?)

    7) Fill in your own topic _____________________  (disqualified: Hillary, Donald, Bernie, US presidential elections, fights with Hal-Wattree-Sync...)

    What's Going On?

    Comments

One thing that may be going on is that local communities in Baton Rouge, LA and Falcon Heights, MN are taking charge of the shootings and Black Lives Matter as an organization is an afterthought. This perception may change in the coming days.

BLM has the most recognizable focused name out there - would be nice if they became effective, tho not holding breath.
