Oscars 2009: Red Carpet Hits and Misses

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino: Aniston always finds a dress that makes her look fantastic and this is no exception. She just looks better and better. Now, if she could just get a good movie role.

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive: Hathaway goes with a mermaid dress so tight she had to change in order to do the Frost/Nixon bit with Hugh Jackman. And she's so pale, she would have looked better in something with a little color. But she still looks gorgeous.

Kate Winslet in Yves Saint Laurent: Barbarella meets The Matrix. A truly bad dress.

Marisa Tomei in Versace: Tomei's dress looks like a fancy cocktail napkin display, but in a good way. Lose the asymmetrical shoulder strap and it's perfect.

Tilda Swinton in a Lanvin blouse: To say that Swinton wins for worst dressed is redundant. She a walking fashion don't.

The Slumdog Gang: Just delicious. If they had fun in Slumdog, I hope we'll see more of these talented and adorable kids.

Amanda Seyfried in Valentino Couture: Just horrible. The dress is bulky at the bottom and the bow around the middle is ridiculous. Pretty necklace though.

Mickey Rourke: You can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man no time to talk.

Natalie Portman in Rodarte: My favorite dress of the night, if only because it's not black, red, or some shade of white.

Frieda Pinto in John Galliano and Dev Patel in Burberry: Cutest couple ever. I love parts of her dress, but the whole thing together doesn't work so great.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Dior Haute Couture: Nobody wears couture like Parker.

Melissa Leo in Badgley Mischka: Leo's dress and hair would be perfect in 1989. But she gets points for picking a color not on the approved list.

Heidi Klum in RM Roland Mouret: One. Hot. Mess.

Alicia Keys in Armani Prive: Keys dress was my second favorite, even though it's basically the same design as Portman's (my favorite). It's different enough to be interesting to look at but traditional enough to be pretty.

Vanessa Hudgens in Marchesa: Edgar Allen Poe called. He wants his raven back.

Taraji P. Henson in Roberto Cavalli: Old Hollywood glamour. Henson is a vision in this buttercream dress with layered fabric and a train.

Viola Davis in Reem Acra: Somebody should have told Viola she didn't have to dress like Oscar.

Miley Cyrus in Zuhair Murad: Cyrus should wear this dress to her audition for Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked. She'd be a lock.

Penelope Cruz in Vintage Balmain: Meh.

Daniel Craig and Some Woman: Okay, fine. She's his girlfriend. But she looks sad. Could it be because he's about to leave her to marry me?

Jessica Biel in Prada: Biel puts to the test that old saying that some women would look good in anything, even drapes.

    Comments

I love Jennifer Aniston and her dress was beautiful. I really thought she looked like she didn't want to be there and didn't put much effort into her hair.  I secretly have about 10 episodes of Friends on DVR at all times just in case I need to be transported to happier times - so keeping that in mind - I am just not sure about her acting abilities so not sure about the movie thing.

I weirdly thought Kate looked the most beautiful of all, and yet somehow didn't like her dress. I just thought it was weirdly shaped.

I just skimmed through all the pictures and honeslty the only ones I like are Natalie, the girl from Slumdog and Alicia Keys.  I guess I also like the colors....
