The right-wing press has been issued orders to paint the Liberals/Left (commies, marxists) as being PC pansies who are biting their own tongues in an effort to stifle Amer'ca.
And in the news today..Ben Carson visited Syria this weekend, and determined that the refugees don't want to come here because they are all happy in their refugee camps over there...or WILL be, once they have water, food, clothing, plumbing and electricity. Dr. Carson says that the US should simply donate funds independently, like, say, through PayPal or their local church.
Here in NEPA we have a free newsletter that is distributed in supermarkets, local shops, delis, laundromats, etc. And this guy that owns this newsletter always writes an editorial piece on the front page. Well, this week's front page has a nice Thanksgiving image on the cover, but the title of this guy's piece basically says, "WTF do we have to be thankful for??" and he proceeds to do his usual tirade about politics that takes up two pages.
O'Malley did a good job of pushing at the front runners, now and then. And he had some smart little soundbites, here and there.
But Clinton and Sanders ran 41 to 40 percent interest all night, in CBS polling.
About what I expected.
What I walked away with, tonight, is that Clinton is great, but Sanders is doing almost as good in the polls and opinions. What I walked away with, tonight, is that people ARE taking Bernie Sanders seriously....including Hillary.
I have a question, and I'm hoping you will all provide your answers.
OK, here it goes.
If Hillary is elected President, what will she change, and how will she change it?
OK, let me clarify that question, first.
If Hillary is elected President, and we still have a majority of Republicans in the House and can barely hold the Senate, what will she change, and how will she change it?
I'll follow my party, dammit. I'll vote like a good little Dem. But anyone who keeps commenting on this site about how we need to be herded like good little Dem cats has to hear a lot from us who never liked the Clintons and who want something more.
Let the debates occur, and let Bernie - and the others - be heard.
We who wanted Obama had the PUMA's and everything else before we had to make our votes - and even after! - so shut up and let us do our research.
Let us look at other candidates, let us consider other options.
Howdy. It has been a while since I last blogged here, but I have been watching from afar. I am glad to be back.
As most of you did, I watched last night's debate, and as most of you did, I spent the better part of my late evening, and today, reading all the various pundits write about it.
I think I am finally committed to one candidate but I must say that part of me had been wishing Joe Biden had stepped up several weeks ago. Alas, I think we can all agree that's a non-story now.
After watching the exit polls since Tuesday night, I have to say that I'm most overwhelmed by the so-called Hispanic vote. So-called because “Hispanics” are more than just “Hispanics”. They are Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Latino, etc. etc.
Here in the U.S., we seem to applaud other countries when the people in other countries stand up for their rights, and fight back and get all angry and shit. We sit back and mildly yell, "Right On!" from our sofas.
We love the underdogs.
We love to see Mister Smith going to Washington and Luke and Leia getting laid (but not with each other) and everyone fighting for their rights (but getting along and fighting the good fight, sister and brother, before learning that Darth Vader is their father and sort of killed their mother). We love to see the kicked-in-the-sand guy standing up to the muscle man on the beach. Archie beats Reggie and gets BOTH Veronica and Betty. Shaggy and Scooby solve the mystery AND get a snack.
This is not political. It's personal. Sometimes, the twain shall meet.
Since moving in with my mother, last September, I've found that I'm not all I'm cracked up to be. I thought I had my act together, and that it was my mother who was the fragmented soul.
Alas.
My mother was diagnosed with depression-based dementia, last summer. I was diagnosed with "unemployed and broke". So we decided I should move in with her, up in PA. We needed each other.
Hello, all. Sorry I haven't been posting very much. I've been pretty busy since moving to Pennsylvania. As most of you know, I am living with my mother and helping her out a bit (driving her to appointments, overseeing her meds, etc.) and I also joined the Pike County Choral Society in late autumn. Finally, I got a part-time job (yay!!) last month, working the front desk at our community's administration office. I'm finally off unemployment and it feels SOOOO GOOD!!!
Well, as most of you know, I moved to Pennsylvania and am settling in. I joined the Pike County Choral Society because my mother and sister are altos there and I thought it would be fun to sing again. I haven't sung in a choir since high school. Seriously. I am so out of practice it isn't funny.
