For the last 15 months there has been a stationary high pressure dome over Western Russia and some of Eastern Europe. It has been effecting world wide weather. It is causing the jet stream behave harmonically. In other words it is real wavy in order to move around the block of the high pressure dome. For the last couple of weeks there has been flooding in China, South Eastern Europe and torrential rains in the Middle East. This is all the effects of global warming. Our media is ignoring it and we should be paying more attention to this. The Balkans got more rain in 24 hours then they see in a couple of months.

Here is a more technical explanation of what happened with this weather event.

One more point. Russia has been suffering with a drought since 2010. The same drought that brought Ukraine to it's knees economically. Ukraine is Europe's bread basket. This helped lead to the instability of that region.

An other update: This one is from The Guardian. They are worried about land minds washing up out of the ground. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/may/18/serbia-bosnia-flooding-thousands-flee-river-sava?CMP=twt_gu

They are worried about a major power plant. A third of the country is flooded.

Yet one landslide in Washington State that killed people got plenty of coverage. It is probably the controversial nature of the explanation (climate change) that they are shying away from the coverage.

Maybe, but the media seems to worry more about their bottom line then covering international news. They don't have the reporters out there like they used to.
Climate changes can cause political unrest. Over all this country seems to know very little about the other side of the world. Syria and Ukraine both had prolong droughts before civil unrest started. I don't see Putin as a villain but someone dealing with a drought and a neighboring country that has a large Russian population that has it roots all the way back to the 12th century with Russia. He has his hands full right now. Ukraine was part of Russia until it was carved off of it after WWI. Lennon showed no interest in the Ukraine territory after the war with the Peace Conference that drew new boarders for countries from the old empires that fell during WWI. There was no Ukraine before that.
Putin will do what he needs to do from a Russian perspective to keep Ukraine from destroying itself in a civil war. Ukraine was the wheat producer for Europe and Russia also depended on Ukraine's agricultural products to feed Russia. Russia had to stop exporting grains in 2010 because of the drought.
USA have done it's political posturing to keep our uniformed population politically somewhat quiet. But we really don't have an understanding about the food problem caused by global warming that is going on in Eurasia right now or the history of Russia. We can't visualize it right now because of the abundance of food this country still has. Though that is now changing in food prices we see at the markets.
