Boris Johnson introduces national lockdown across England
In a televised address, the prime minister announced a third new lockdown across England. Earlier, the UK's chief medical officers moved the COVID-19 alert level to level 5 - the highest possible - on the day when the UK announced more than 58,000 cases
What's happening:
- Johnson announced a third lockdown for England
- Shielding will begin again
- People asked to stay at home in most circumstances
- All schools will be shut, exams will not go ahead as planned
