But what work gives that flexibility and easy entry for students, people between "good" jobs, someone new to the area, artists/performers, single mothers, etc.?
It used to be you could show up in a new town and be landing takehome tips in 2 days if you knew what you were doing.

Where i live the customers bag their own stuff, checkout peeps just scan the prices and take payments. And say "have a nice day". Not particularly required to smile either.
