Dad bought the gun 4 days before his son used it to kill 4 students, Mom carries too. Mom, 2016, posted letter to Trump: "You made the famous ‘grab them in the p*ssy’ comment, did it offend me? No,’ she wrote to Trump. ‘I say things all the time that people take the wrong way, do I mean them, not always. Do I agree that you should of [sic] shown your tax returns? No. I don’t care what you do or maybe don’t pay in taxes...thank you for allowing my right to bear arms,’
Adding, ‘Allowing me to be protected if I show a home to someone with bad intentions. Thank you for respecting that Amendment.’
Comments
Does she care her son will spend decades in prison? Does Dad care? Do either of them care about the dead and wounded? I would wager they could not care less. About anyone but yours truly, and their Orange God King.

Automatic Weapons at Christmas! What could be GOP culture warrior macho for The Stupids of The Base!
U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) in a Christmas photo of his family holding guns!
by NCD on Sun, 12/05/2021 - 12:02pm
as disgusting as that photo is, those type of guns no longer have to do with school shootings nor the skyrocketing homicide rate, IT'S VIRTUALLY ALL HAPPENING WITH HANDGUNS, including ghost handguns. Knives and fists, or in some instances cinder blocks, if they don't have the money for a handgun.
by artappraiser on Sun, 12/05/2021 - 3:24pm
There is NO gun Republicans support controlling in any way.
Republicans oppose any restrictions, control, modification, licensing, purchase waiting period of the 'gun du jour' or any gun. They don't care about the body count, blood in the streets is a campaign prop for them.
They don't even support ghost gun laws. link
"The bill criminalizes owning a firearm without a serial number. Most of those kinds of guns are ones made with a 3D printer, and can be invisible to metal detectors. Longhurst previously worked with the NRA in an effort to garner bipartisan support for the measure, saying law-abiding citizens shouldn’t have to worry about the bill.
But ultimately Republican lawmakers opposed it. State Rep. Stephen Smyk (R-Milton) says the bill won’t be effective."

How come it was crickets from you when rmrd promoted the idea that more black people having automatic weapons just like in the Christmas picture is romantic and glorious? Because you know he's a Democrat?
Another thing. You've got proof right now in our society that more guns don't reduce crime. Why don't you use that? Do you actually like high crime rates causing more Republicans to be elected and more handguns to be purchased?
by artappraiser on Sun, 12/05/2021 - 4:55pm
The Republican Party, it's disciples, it's dupes, its grifters, it's supporters, it's apologists, it's culture warriors, it's support of guns, use of guns as campaign props, and it's obstruction of laws to reduce gun violence is a plague on this nation, gun victims and it's future. Something RM said is one persons thought. He may have reasons, that may change tomorrow.
Black leaders don't send Christmas cards with the extended family brandishing guns, Republicans do.
The Black Caucus is for sane gun control, Democrats are also, the Republican Party is not.
Republican obstruction makes guns available to anyone, you seem to only care about Blacks, while posting tsunamis of right wing distraction and right wing talking points.
by NCD on Sun, 12/05/2021 - 5:54pm
Uh, she's posting massive amounts of murders - hardly a "distraction" or "talking point". Stupid as they are, gun nut photos don't actually kill a lot of people. Assholes on the street pulling triggers do. People trying to "defund the police" in the middle of this madness certainly don't give a fuck about "sane gun control". I hope there's enough of the Black Caucus and Democratic party trying to come up with ways to get guns off the street and murderers in jail, but mostly i see quick release programs that let killers out to do it again. You seeing something different?

Regarding quick release, one possibility is that the current releases may be an attempt to decrease crowding due to COVID

Republicans want blood in the streets, they campaign on fear, when will you get it? WHEN ..!!!
The Republican block any laws, regulations or CDC funding on how to stop it. They are now trying to stop enforcement of what is left of federal gun law, see links I posted.
Stop distracting with endless piles of dead and wounded. Doubt she or you give a damn about any of the victims.

Thanks for the appreciation. I should have learned my lesson by now not to interact except with people trying to figure out reality, my problem that I do, pray I get some discipline to ignore.
No surprise as it's the same old same old ridiculous illogic.(I should know better than to interact but I seem to never learn my lesson.) The person who takes a lot of time to actually read and post about the individual people that are victims and victimizers is the one who doesn't care about them. And the person who thinks of them as just numbers in the way of his preconceived cherry-picking agenda and uses descriptions like "a slight uptick in homicides" (until it's impossible to be in denial any longer), and shrugs it off with things like "we don't know why it's happening,
but " look here's another police brutality incident, they handcuffed this boy" who was incorrectly accused of shoplifting for a few minutes
Even Ben Crump found time to tweet about the murder of the wife of "The Black Godfather" Clarence Avant, and he's a busy man. And ya know, I read up on her, she did an incredible amount of good helping "the black community". Did the perp know or care? Nope.

I posted books that reflect the accurate history of Blacks activists supporting gun ownership.
I posted an article that indicates there was a surge in gun purchases by Black people after George Floyd.
My interpretation is that many feel that the police will not protect them from gun violence threatened by white supremacists.
Arbery's murderers were protected by local police and DAs until there was a national outcry
I noted that the economist you cited says more police do not decrease homicides in cities with a large Black population
I am searching for programs that actually decrease homicides
You focus on reporting crimes.
For some reason, the posts make you feel better
Personally, I don't feel the need to arm myself
BUT, I understand why Blacks see George Floyd and the reluctant movement of the Arbery murder case, and feel the need to carry a weapon.

Where's your outrage been about minority kids killing each other with them every day for the last couple years?
Just now you're upset because his mom is a Trumpie? Or because the victims were all white kids? Plenty more people were killed by handguns that day, including under 18.
How about the parents or guardians of this one? This kid was making and selling them right in front of their nose:

I joined the NRA when I became a security guard because they provided all sorts of resources and gear for guards, but I made sure to also put in a donation for March for Our Lives. We've put up with this too long - guns exist everywhere but random shootings are only a recurring phenomenon in the United States.

Sound points. The Republican Party has blocked any and all sane gun regulations for decades, and they loosen gun laws willy nilly, Texas just dropped the State requirement for gun handling safety class before concealed carry license.
Google Republicans block gun legislation and you get millions of links.

You are not recognizing the fact that the fear and hate campaign tactics of the Republican Party are at the heart of this nation's gun afflictions. Gun law blocking Republican politicians are liars, and hypocrites and do not care about the body count, only re-election.
The Republican Party's exploitation and culture war incitement of its gun loving, gun buying, guns everywhere, irresponsible gun obsessed base is at the heart of all of this country's gun tragedies.

A reminder: guns are illegal in Chicago, they ALREADY HAVE have full and total "gun control"
You can't have gun control in a city when just a short drive away there is almost no gun control. I read an article some years ago about the gun pipeline from Indiana to Chicago. Men who looked respectable would go to gun shows regularly to buy several guns to be resold illegally in Chicago. Buyers would even place orders for the type and brand they wanted. No background checks and no records of the gun sold. Virtually untrackable. Very little that Chicago or even Illinois could do about it, The regulations or lack of were set by Indiana laws

Why not?

Things have now changed where the situation is that won't do much good anyhow.
AR-15's are not doing the major damage anymore, handguns are, by more than a mile. Enormous amount of violence executed by them, far far exceeding any school shootings. Especially handguns in the hand of people who have no training in the use of them, and including the love and glorification of them in hiphop culture. It's not just urban gang members or wannabe gang members, a lot of domestic violence now ends up with whole families dead, from handgun use, like nearly every day.
Nobody is going to go into people's homes and take away the mass quantities of handguns purchased in the last year and a half and win any election in the forseeable future.
(I was looking about a month ago, and I was shocked to see it - I'd estimate about 25% of the women's handbags currently being sold on Amazon have a front pocket for handgun, they actually call them handgun pockets.)
Many of liberal friends of everyone here probably helped the total sales but they are not going to admit it that they did that when millennials were protesting in the streets to defund police and fuck Joe Biden. And they are not going to admit it when ATF says if you bought a handgun in 2020 or 2021, you need to fill out this form, it's not going to happen. All those handguns are now added to the huge number of guns Americans already owned and can easily be resold and stolen.
Then throw in that ghost guns are the major new problem. Just read that in the big blue cities, more and more ghost guns are what police are finding in the execution of crimes. You make owners of manufactured handguns register them, it will just fuel the growth of people building ghost guns for self-protection or profit.
The NRA doesn't even matter anymore and they know it.
The more crime and the more localities have a hard time finding people to become police or other law enforcement, the more ordinary people will buy handguns. People who aren't trained to use them.
The really odd thing is that the crazy unhinged like the guy who shot Gabbie Giffords, who would be found by a longer waiting period, more and more of those kind seem to be using knives to attack or just punching people in the face or bashing their head in with a cinder block, and in public I'm sure a lot of average women read these stories and decide their husband is right: they never wanted one before, but they need a handgun along with the purse that makes it easily accessible while alone on the street. Especially with fewer cops around.
by artappraiser on Fri, 12/03/2021 - 3:24am
Proof I'm not making this up. People ARE buying handguns in mass quantities. Had they had stricter laws on Black Friday, it still would have been way too late! The gun used was one of 187,585 sold that day. These are all out there now, and many many more in the past year, and many are seeing use. People are not going to give them back! At least these, unlike the many ghost guns that urban police are now finding, are at least registered if some crime is committed.
The only thing that makes sense to me now: required licensing with required insurance to carry outside of the home, just like with motor vehicles. Problem is everyone agrees police can stop you when you're driving if they see something might be off, and check for license and registration. But stop and frisk is a big no-no, so you'll have only after the fact enforcement, i.e., if they see someone shooting.or see someone holding it in public view, they could ask for license and insurance.
As to preventing school shootings = metal detectors, they work. Sorry if you have old timey privacy issues about that but all parents won't "frisk" their kids, that's just reality.. Everyone that gets on an airplane or to a court has to go through one and have all their bags checked, why not schools?

When people communicate, they understand each other more. You only hate what you don't understand. An atomized society makes it far more likely that people will act aggressively or violently against one another.
Unfortunately, with how American structure is created, guns, drugs and alienation are a toxic brew that makes everything just that much worse. The country is structurally alienating.
I personally am of the believe that we are headed toward the end of this experiment. I'm not sure what will replace it, but I don't think this country can or will hold together as what we are used to it being.
My hometown, Seattle, right now is full of inexplicable events. I lived it while I was up there, long before it seemed to become the reality for everyone else. I was attacked violently multiple times and responded in kind. It was not fun. That city is known for its "freeze," where it is very difficult to make friends or talk to neighbors. When you don't know your neighbors, it's easy to suspect the worst of them and then to act accordingly. Communication is key.

RE: Any idea why Dems lose elections?
It's a pity certain people here haven't figured that out and in discussion on this site we could move on to things like if you are lucky enough to be in power a short while and make handgun control laws. but at the same time there are fewer and fewer police to enforce them, and the few police that remain are not allowed to frisk to confiscate them, what happens then?
I'm thinking about the gazillion handguns that have been purchased since May 2020.
Laws: pie in the sky without enforcement.
Perhaps all the "social workers" on house calls will be armed and allowed to dig in people's homes on surprise visits to confiscate them when police forces dwindle further and further?

What is your point?
Democrats lost elections after LBJ signed Civil Rights legislation
Democrats lost elections after passing health care legislation
Democrats lost elections after rescuing the automobile industry.
Posting pics of homicide victims changes nothing.
There was a surge in Black gun purchases after George Floyd
Law abiding Black citizens got licenses and trading because the authorities are not trusted.
Blacks with concerns about white supremacists do not have to wait for homicides to fall to a level that you find acceptable to purchase guns legally.
Edit to add:

The Trump White House may have been in on planning the January 6th attack

Yes, LBJ lost popularity after Civil Rights and Great Society in a large part because students didn't like their dicks getting blown off in Vietnam. Go figure - why weren't they woke enough to take it for the team?
We can talk about the Southern Strategy, but somehow Jimmy Carter won 8 years later despite however controversial the Dem approach to desegregation was. Even George Wallace had been deflated by then.
But Clinton won in 1992 in a large part due to fixing the economy and taking on crime. I'm sure some thought "posting pictures of homicides" in trying to get serious about crime was counterproductive, but in those pre-woke days of Bernard Getz and Rodney King we didn't know any better. Now crime just fixes itself.

They are not "pics", they are mostly links to local professional news reports regarding criminal incidents!.
(Are you really that dumb that you don't know I mostly post tweets that are links to news articles? Which I read! Or are you really so dumb as to not realize that local journalists report on crime that isn't covered in the national news?) Every once in a while I also include info. from people who tweet what is being said on police scanners if it is something major, because it is real raw data, it eliminates any spin which a journalist inserts, and gives real time sense of "happening on the streets right now", how things go down, how police handle things.
As PP has implied, local crime reporting is far more valuable information to most average people and has real impact on their lives, much more than a lot of the political crap we news junkies get hooked on.

Dead is dead, I still stand that it has nothing to do with politics, matters not that mom liked Trump, plenty of Trump haters killing each other too. Anyone who doesn't realize the latter is in deep deep denial, its the so-called #ghetto that has the biggest problem with handgun violence and the culture needs to change. You're not going to solve anything by having schadenfraude because she's a Trump fan, you don't get back at Trump that way. Homies love guns, the guns are already out there and nobody's taking them back, just reality that culture has to change now is the only way.
In the meantime, nobody gives a shit about, like, the 3 yr. old and mother among 3 just killed in Elizabeth, NJ -
I realize people get most upset about school shootings because they want to feel their kids are safe at school . There's actually an easy answer there - metal detectors and bag checks. Buy em, use em until you have 100% perfect parents. We all accept them at airports because: people can get weapons, go figure. People killed where they are not possible aren't so lucky.

They thought they figured out the formula and were smarter than everyone. The utopia, however, has turned in to a ghetto and it is an especially frightening situation because the city has no preparation for dealing with social problems. It is used to denying them.

In the supposedly racist Texas judicial system Mom took him home the next day. She's not being prosecuted, to say the least. The defense so far is he did it because he was bullied. Little national coverage, except Murdoch (Murder and Mayhem is their specialty)
You say "it's all Republicans fault" and they're going with "MSNBC and CNN doesn't report anywhere near all the violent crime going on since BLM protests". While you're all playing these partisan blame games people meanwhile are going to continued to be killed and maimed and otherwise criminally violated. That "Christmas" picture is purposeful trolling of partisans like NCD, and he's falling for the distraction hook line and sinker. (The last guy that used that kind of weaponry was the Las Vegas shooter, that was 4 years ago.)
We had record low crime rates with virtually the same gun laws only a few years back Compstat-type policing and strong prosecution, it was proven to work a heckuva lot of the time. Everyone's a victim now of the mean police and mean prosecutors.

Do you really think anyone anywhere in the U.S. is going to try to enact stricter laws for handguns and win re-election with this level of violent crime going on? AGAIN, not that long ago, violent crime went way down without doing that.
Denial is not a river in Egypt.
