.....The information Trump relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said....

It's a major breaking "scoop." Just a few minutes ago I saw MSNBC broadcasting this WaPo story
(current headline: Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister and ambassador)
as Important "breaking" but they said NBC cannot confirm it yet, and offered that it's by two reporters who are "highly respected". Meanwhile Wolf Blitzer over at CNN is still doing "the tapes" and "who is going to be the new FBI director?"

P.S. I think CNN is going to do it next, he said "there's other important breaking after the break".
Edit to add after the break: nope not yet, they are doing the Clapper story. Maybe they feel they have to confirm.
The NYT has nothing on it. They are running this as the headline story:

Did they offer Trump some special chocolate cake in exchange?
Or was he just proving how awesomely smart he is?

Methinks the CIA does not like getting not only no scoops of ice cream but no chocolate cake nor chocolate pie.
Just my humble suspicion. Could be wrong.

It was just for Trump. It's his favorite.
He was eating cake at Mar-a-Lago when he ordered the missiles on Syria. Trump and the Russians don't like the CIA so no cake for them.

And CNN has been reporting it, too, after the NYT published, based on the two print media's stories, and Barbara Starr came on to say "if true, is very serious." And that the White House has issued some quick simple initial denials. I caught it when Jeffrey Toobin phoned in to give a caveat that this is not actually against any law for a president to do, he can in actuality give away any classified info. when he deems it appropriate, something which anyone else would be put in prison for.

The NYT has it now, too, is "according to officials", appears they just took a bit longer to publish:

McMaster on why it would be totally impossible for Trump to yap about top secret info with the wrong people:
Ohhhh...? Nothing he is more serious about...?
Trump can be trusted to take seriously his grandiose image of himself and his bank account.....the sole objectives that have consumed him for his entire life.

Apparently White House communications staff basically "forged the signature" of Tillerson/State Dept. in one statement on the story. Kind of makes sense, if you're spinning talking points for the entire government, why bother going through all those motions? From CNN

Reuters and BuzzFeed also published this story after WaPo did, using "two U.S. officials" as their sources. So as the story develops, those two as well as WaPo and the NYT are the ones to look to for any pushback to White House spin.

Pity poor Susan. Maybe she should pick a different party.

Fox News is claiming it was just "locker room talk."

Paul Ryan might regret having said this about Hillary Clinton

Ryan's staff is going to have a hard time avoiding this meme. The same story is @ The Hill, focusing on his old tweet, and everyone on The Hill reads The Hill, and I see indications of it going viral, with 14,400 Facebook shares of the story so far:
