Over just one news cycle, Republicans, Republican supporters and the Republican base displayed at least 7 whatever you want to call them, sins, blunders, vices, character flaws and defects.....
Robby Lobby, illegal and unethical purchase of thousands of ancient artifacts from the war torn Middle East.
Hobby Lobby is the corporation that in Burwell vs. Hobby Lobby, won the right to deny birth control coverage to women they employ due to their deep religious principles.
They claimed fervor for religion also In this case:
Hobby Lobby purchased thousands of ancient artifacts smuggled out of modern-day Iraq via the United Arab Emirates and Israel in 2010 and 2011, attorneys for the Eastern District of New York announced on Wednesday. As part of a settlement, the American craft-supply mega-chain will pay $3 million and the U.S. government will seize the illicit artifacts.
Hobby Lobby has a stable of lawyers sufficient to take their birth control case to the Supreme Court, but not, apparently, enough lawyers to discern that importing ancient cuneiform tablets as "used tiles" through illegal import schemes is not only illegal but immoral.
The CEO claimed "passion" as an excuse.
Hobby Lobby, based in Oklahoma, released a statement from their CEO, Steve Green:
"Our passion for the Bible continues, and we will do all that we can to support the efforts to conserve items that will help illuminate and enhance our understanding of this Great Book," Green said.
From the Bible, Romans 13:
Therefore, it is necessary to submit to authority, not only to avoid punishment, but also as a matter of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes. For the authorities are God’s servants, who devote themselves to their work. Pay everyone what you owe him: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.
Of course, the funds to buy these items may have eventually funded terrorism or ISIS.
Sins: Greed, blasphemy, avarice, hypocrisy, deceit, dishonesty and guile.

Republican Congressman's Auschwitz Gas Chamber political video.
Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.) is facing criticism from officials at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum Tuesday, after he filmed a video inside a former gas chamber in the Nazi concentration camp.
According to a report by The Associated Press, officials from the memorial said the video was disrespectful and that the sign in the building asks visitors to "maintain silence."
Local Louisiana news outlets reported Higgins's video Saturday. In it, the lawmaker discusses how the gas chambers worked, using the site as an example of why the U.S. military "must be invincible." link
Personality flaws: callousness, disdain for others, egomania, coldness, vulgarity.

The NPR tweets of the Declaration of Independence. The pre-eminent document forming the United States.
Some Trump supporters thought NPR tweeted ‘propaganda.’ It was the Declaration of Independence.
The blowback increased when the tweets reached the portion of the Declaration that outlined, in unsparing detail, all the ways Britain’s George III had wronged the then-Colonies.
“He has obstructed the administration of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary powers,” read one line of the document.
“A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people,” read another.
Some people — presumably still in the dark about NPR’s Fourth of July exercise — assumed those lines were references to President Trump and the current administration
So, NPR is calling for revolution.
Interesting way to condone the violence while trying to sound "patriotic".
Character defects: ignorance, impulsiveness, belligerence, truculence.
