Afghanistan 4-Evuh!!! War on Drugs!!!

Well, I blew it - I thought with the number of green-on-blue attacks and the complete collapse of our efforts there, plus the pointlessness after getting OBL in Pakistan - that we'd start cutting and running right after election day.

Boy was I wrong. Now we're negotiating a Status of Forces Agreement to stay there after 2014, and did I mention Drugs! DRuGs!! DRUGS!!! That's right, Afghanistan is once again essential to our War on Drugs, which has had greater longevity than our War on Terror.

(I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, to find out the Afghanis are growing poppies on the sly)

So there it is - we have to stop the Taliban from drugging our children, it's a point of national security, and that means more soldiers and drones and, well, stuff. And to pay for this, we'll need to cut Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid - hope y'all don't mind.

Glad we won that election - Romney would have done worse.

Honored. And chastened. But not chaste.

Yep, it should have ended after Bin Laden was killed--if it ever should have started, about which I'm conflicted.

Harder to maintain a siege when you completely abandon a whopping big section of it. Then there is the security TAPI pipeline to consider.  The war on drugs covers a lot of military and paramilitary activity, no?

Yep, could be 1000 years before we're ready to leave.
