I'm Al Franken
We have nuts in this part of the good ole US of A. hahahah
We had a guy who told us all about Atlantis in the 19th century.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignatius_L._Donnelly
We had a guy who would run for the Presidency of the Good Ole US of A several times; with no chance of ever winning several times. hahahahah
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Stassen
But we had a guy who would become the biggest man on SNL
And Al would make an ass of himself.
And Al would humiliate himself.
And Al became THE COMEDIAN.
UNTIL...
Until Al fell in love with an idea.
The idea involved Paul Wellstone.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Wellstone
Now Al found a wonderful woman and had wonderful children and..
And Al had all the wonderful things he could ever hope for.
But he became in love with a Minnesota idea.
And this idea came in the person of a Minnesota Senator.
We in Minnesota have seen the sorts of Gene McCarthy and Hubert Huphrey.
We in Minnesota saw our troops (halved by our ability to take into the end of the Indian Wars; well we kind of fucked up on this part) play a critical part in the Gettysburg battle)
But Al loved this Senator with the lisp
.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
Anyway, here is the old Al Franken
He would face the crowd on SNL and tell them:
And me, I'm Al Franken. ahahahaha
He knew exactly what he was doing.
But watch him draw a map of the USA
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EDZmDGRk1k0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Anyway, Al has been mentioned as a possible VP for Hillary.
So has his sister Senator (from another mother) Amy Klobachar.
Now Amy had a dad who was another of my childhood heroes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Klobuchar
hahahaha
Her dad was once our pundit regarding sports.
Her dad would cheer for the Vikings like the Greeks would cheer for some of their gods. hahhaha
Of course, after four chances at the Super Bowl, we never saw victory. hahahha
But, and this is a big butt, the Twins made it to the world series three times and won twice.
Anyway I love Amy.
But and this is the purpose of this silly blog...
Al Franken would destroy THE DONALD.
Al could attack THE DONALD at this devil's very core.
JUST A THOUGHT
And I know that Al would never have the chance of debating THE DONALD.
BUT DAMN!
MAKE AL FRANKEN THE VP PICK, HILLARY.
COME ON. GET GOIN1
THE END
Comments
AL FRANKEN
You gotta friend: hahhahaha]

D Day, if you haven't seen it I think you will like this. I did. I like both Scher and Lewis but between the two I almost always agree with Scher.
P.S. Aint those grandkids great! They make old age seem really worth gettin' to. Glad you have ended up with such a good family situation too.

This is fun radio Lulu!
Jeez, I knew there were rumblings out there for Al, but this is a great advertisement for my favorite Senator.
Oh and Precious (my oldest granddaughter) is going to be four years old in a couple of weeks.
Yeah, being a grandpa (or pop as they call me) is great!

I like Al Franken. I met him when I was an NBC page working on SNL back around 1975 or so. He and his partner, Tom Davis, were writers. I seem to remember Al was wearing his Wrestling letter sweater from Minnesota. I think one of Al Franken's greatest contributions will always be how he sustained so many Progressives when things were looking particularly bleak. "Rush Limbaugh is a Big, Fat Idiot", was the first effective comedic punch-back to the GOP Media Propaganda machine which had been eviscerating and mocking Liberals for years. When he first ran for office, I even donated a small amount to his campaign. (Which, considering my financial status was a big deal. LOL) But that means I now get emails from him all the time asking for money. Even so, I want more politicians like Al Franken.

I read all three of his books.
Like you say:
Al thought we should be fighting back against this Fascist bullshit.
And then, out of nowhere, when Welstone was gone in the plane crash a repub sombitch took over his Senate seat....Al came unto the national stage and won.
And he won by so little of a majority he had to wait six frickin months to take his rightful seat.
Of course, six years later, Al won again.
I love this guy and I always have and always will.
I already know that he has carried on the traditions of Gene and Hubert and Walter.
