THE END OF THE BOOMERS
I am viewing THE BIG CHILL
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Chill_(film)
I can hardly handle it.
Give up.
Give me up.
Give it all up.
You know what these goddamn boomers are doing now?
We are watching O’Reilly, if we feel reasonable.
Rush and Hannity and others seem sooooo very reasonable.
CNN is sometimes very very reasonable.
hahahahahaha
Hahahaha
We cannot always get what we want…
But if you try sometime, you just might find…
That you can get what you need.
And THE CHILL is 1983 for chrissakes.
Hahahaha
THE WAKE
This entire exercise involves THE WAKE.
You know, Kostner was to make his first appearance in film as the cadaver in this wondrous film?
THEY CUT HIM OUT.
Hahahahahah
Mimi is there. She is just a trollop of course.
In 1983 how could one put a bad light on Mimi for chrissakes?
MY GENERATION
Who?
William Hurt is my hero of course.
To this day.
Hurt was hurt and used any drugs available and biological helpers and other types of chemicals in order to survive his own contempt for humanity. Hurt is really the only fun guy in the entire flick and he destined for death at an earlier age, of course.
Beringer was a worthless TV star.
I KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT LOVE.
Jeff Goldblum was just looking for pussy. Hahahaha At least he finds MINI. hahhaah
At least he thinks he has found his 'true love'. But he represents the 'press'.
William Hurt hurts for Mimi and wins her.
Glenn Close shows up because Streep was unavailable. Hahahahahah
(I am so very mean at times, just ask Mel Gibson)
Kevin Kline is the biggest prick our generation ever produced.
Oh I am a millionaire now and all I care about is humanity as long as they act civilly. (with a small h)
1983
The film was published in 1983.
You do realize that this year is one year prior to 1984?
And THE BIG CHILL involves some tech, new tech for the 1980’s.
Video tapes for heaven sakes.
I purchased my first VCR in that year from the precursor to Best Buy in Minnesota. I had some money and the store I purchased that wondrous machine was 1983 when I had some money.
TRUE LOVE
I have been watching and reading about these blogs/videos involving the Confederacy and its many flags!
Southerners of my generation attempt to protect this flag and the crap it seems to defend as HERITAGE?
Well let us all put this mess in context?
There is no context sometimes.
(quoted as ME)
Well, sometimes we win and sometimes we lose.
Context I guess.
I am in a bad mooooood today.
THE BOOMERS HAVE NOT DONE WHAT THEY MIGHT HAVE DONE.
THE END.
WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO US?
Comments
Oh there is an old song I use sometimes.
ha
I use this normally to make fun of repubs.
But damn, my generation has turned into repubs, for chrissakes.
Can't you see what this country has done to me?

Obviously, a lot has changed since 1983. I think our generation, (the Boomers) were headed into complacency and going from hippie radicals to straight-laced, button-downed conservatives, just as so many generations did before us ... but then, something happened. A lot of us got re-radicalized. Our slow march to old age conservatism stopped. We looked hard at ourselves and our lost ideals and rejected that old saying about "Never trust a man who is conservative in his youth or liberal in his old age ..." Instead of fitting into the stereotype of old farts who were liberals in their youth and conservatives in their old age, we woke up and saw how we were being played and we didn't like it. I think the imagined promise of Obama awakened many an aging liberals heart. Or maybe it was something else. But I think all those movies that tried in the 80's to define our generation have been shown, in the long run, to have gotten it wrong. We tried shallow conformity in the 90's and we didn't like it.

Sometimes I think we lost our voice.
Like Dylan
As if he ever had a goooooood voice.
hahahah
by Richard Day on Fri, 07/17/2015 - 12:08am
One of my favorite Dylan albums is Nashville Skyline. It's also one that, I think, he sounds better than he does on most of his other albums. (When I first heard Time Out of Mind, I couldn't believe how badly his voice had deteriorated ... But never mind that. No-one really listens to Dylan for the beauty of his voice. hahahaha ) Anyway, I think I read somewhere that he gave up smoking just before recording Nashville Skyline. But for whatever reason, I think his voice sounds a bit more resonant and melodic on that album .., plus the tunes are all pretty catchy little country songs and he seems to be having fun performing them.

Bobby actually paid for voice lessons, as I recall (rumor of course).
Lay Lady Lay....
I can love this guy when he thinks he is Woody and I can love this guy when he is hoping to be Bing. hahahah
But, it is a combination of his poetry and his danged voice.
Otherwise it would not work.
BOB AS THE CROONER. HAHAHAHA

I never gave up my hippy ideals. I never voted for a republican and held my nose many times to vote for a democrats that was in wolf clothing. I never did fit into any stereotype. I guess it was never my nature.

We all get lost at times.
We have to support our families and our friends.
There was hope at one time for our generation.
Now we can only have hope for our new generation (let us skip generations) ha.
My son loves his little baby daughters as does his wife.
All we can do is hope!
You keep hopin Momoe.
That is all we got!

"And Hope shall lead them ... for no-one else knows the way." - (Okay, I just made up that 'famous' quote ... but it sounds good, huh? hahaha
by MrSmith1 on Fri, 07/17/2015 - 2:55am
That's all right.
I hereby render unto Mr. Smith, the Dayly Line of the Day Award for this here Dagblog Site, given to all of him from all of me.
Let us hope, let us all hope, that Hope shall lead the way.
Well done, Mr. Smith, as always.

I would post this on FB but... you need a good laugh. I keep a hidden supply of chocolate just for these occasions. Now what was that the question?
by trkingmomoe on Fri, 07/17/2015 - 5:27am
I am three days late again.
My son told me a year ago or more.
Somehow his girl got ahold of some chocolate and ran around yelling
CHOCOLATE
hahahahahah.
There is sex and there is chocolate.
By the way
Have you ever seen Chocolat?
One of my favorite films

THE BOOMERS HAVE NOT DONE WHAT THEY MIGHT HAVE DONE.
YET.
NOT QUITE THE END.
"There's still time for us to pull our heads out of our asses."
- William Hurt

by Richard Day on Mon, 07/20/2015 - 1:43pm
Oh I was thinking about my favorite Canadian Dr. Q when I found this old song by accident looking for something else. That is usually the only manner in which I find something of value. hahahahah
Anyway here it is
Nothing to do with nothing, but it has something to do with everything.
