The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

Calling William Safire: When You "Pal Around" With Someone, You Are "_______ Around"?

This has been bothering me for the last several days, since Sarah Palin has taken up the Sean Hannity/John McCain/Andy Martin/Republican line of Barack Obama being "pals" with William Ayers. I propose that the transitive tense of the word henceforth be spelled "pal'in'".

I've been frustrated by the inability to come up with a good way to spell what it is when you pal around with someone. Two "l's" remind me of pall-bearers, one "l" reminds me of Michael Jackson. I chose the two apostrophe model (over "pal'ing") because it reminds me of Sarah and just one of her BS'ing lines.

BTW, FWIW, I find her BS "apalling".
