A lot of women have fires in their belly these days!
But a lot of those poor women found themselves 'instilled' with that fire from outside sources.
During the House’s debate, Rep. Pete DeGraaf, a Mulvane Republican who supports the bill, told [Bollier]: “We do need to plan ahead, don’t we, in life?”
Bollier asked him, “And so women need to plan ahead for issues that they have no control over with a pregnancy?”
DeGraaf drew groans of protest from some House members when he responded, “I have spare tire on my car.”
“I also have life insurance,” he added. “I have a lot of things that I plan ahead for.”
DeGraaf’s belief that women should plan and prepare for their own rape is more than groan-worthy, it’s woefully out-of-touch. As Jezebel’s Margaret Hartmann notes, DeGraaf is basically telling sexual assault victims that “the state isn’t AAA” so a Kansas woman is responsible for the consequences of her attacker. And by comparing it to life insurance, DeGraaf goes further to insinuate that rape is as inevitable as death.

Times change and so do attitudes!
But let us take Der Fuhrer DeGraaf's ideas on planning.
After all, planning is a cornerstone of the Repub Stonehenge.
I mean people should have planned for the September 2008 stock market Armageddon for chrissakes and they might have some money left!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/24/retirement-savings-older-workers-recession_n_866109.html
They should have sold their homes in 06 and purchased abodes in a trailer park with cash and put the proper papers together so that food stamps could be applied for in case of some unforeseen delay.
They could have run for Congress and received a much better return on their investments.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/24/members-of-congress-get-a_n_866387.html?ir=Business
They should have chosen to be part of a different race besides taking the time to properly document their place of birth. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/24/black-white-life-expectan_n_865945.html
And of course it's easier for minorities to die quicker in their last attempt to screw their creditors.
And they should have planned to work for a company that paid benefits like health insurance; a company that would continue to pay those benefits after 30-40 years of dedication; and a company that chose not to renege on employee benefits. http://www.lsjournal.com/2011/02/24/63333/prohibit-pension-revisions.html
And they should have planned that their employer (municipal or private) does not go bankrupt decades down the line! http://smithsgradings.wordpress.com/2011/01/14/chapter-9-is-for-municipal-bankruptcy/
And they should have planned not to have become disabled in a car accident for the next three or four decades following their initial employment since, in the last thirty years or so some 1.5 million have died and another 5-10 million have become totally or partially disabled. http://www.car-accidents.com/pages/stats.html
And they should have planned to have become disabled or totally disabled as a result of gunshot wounds since over the next thirty years they should have predicted that a million people would die from gunshots and another five to ten million would become partially or totally disabled as a result of gunshot wounds or from felonious attacks! This might comprise anywhere from 5 to ten million folks or more over a three decade period. http://www.policyalmanac.org/crime/archive/firearms_and_crime.shtml
And, of course, they might have taken more time to choose their lottery numbers!
And they might have better planned for black lung disease. That risk has doubled since 1997 by the way.

I could go on and on.
But I wish to get back to Der Fuhrer DeGraaf's model for planning.
The first thing they wish to do is abolish PLANNED PARENTHOOD.http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2011/apr/13/kansas-house-wants-block-funding-planned-parenthoo/
Because the last thing this country needs is FAMILY PLANNING.
Oh and how many folks dies from VD every year, AIDS inclusive? http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_people_die_from_an_STD_every_year
Republicans now have majority control of the state legislatures in 25 states, Democrats in 16 states, and the parties share control in eight states. Nebraska does not give party affiliation. Republicans also hold 29 governorships to 20 for Democrats and one independent.
http://www.auntminnie.com/index.asp?sec=ser&sub=def&pag=dis&ItemID=94191
The Christian Right has full control over those legislatures...at least after Wall Street takes some time off of their 16 hour lobbying days to get some lunch and a lap dance.
http://www.sba-list.org/newsroom/news/cnn-new-abortion-laws-show-christian-rights-continued-power
And the results of this new powerful force, state laws are being changed faster than the diapers on a one year old with diarrhea.
And the repubs are sounding worse and worse and worse in Congress and they peddle their planning methods. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/05/23/rob-woodall-on-medicare-take-care-of-me_n_865724.html
So I just suggest, suggest mind you, that we plan to get rid of these republicans in the next election before it is too damn late!
From what I see, there is a lot a fire in the bellies of a lot of voters who might wish to take account of their 2010 votes!

My mother and father went to Planned Parenthood. They knew exactly how many children they wanted and that's how many they had. After having 3 boys they figured the next two would be boys as well and planned accordingly.
Unfortunately the X and Y chromosomes had other ideas and they wound up with two girls and having to remodel a bit of the house.
Way it goes.

Wonderful story c.
I have praised Planned Parenthood for decades. All of the good work they have accomplished as a nonprofit organization.

Good plan Dick. The changes being wrought in state law by these "planners" may likely prove disastrous for liberal causes with the SCOTUS we now enjoy, let alone all the lower level jurists from GW Bush's years of bench appointments.

The judiciary really figures in all of this!
You got that right Miguel.

I'm sure that Rep. DeGraeff is also aware that a commonly held belief in the medical community is that almost all men will get prostate cancer if they live long enough. So, I'm sure he would have no problem whatsoever if we went ahead and scheduled his surgery for this weekend to have his prostate removed. Hey, it's just planning ahead. That would have the added benefit of eliminating potential fires in his wife's belly...

All the sex appeal of a road accident.
by cmaukonen on Wed, 05/25/2011 - 12:31am
With as many wives, concubines, prostitutes and consorts most Republican politicians have had seems they do think women are like cars. After a few years you ditch your old one and get a new model.
by NCD on Wed, 05/25/2011 - 12:34am
Well NCD, I mean the repubs are for family values and that means that the more families you have the more you are into family values. Ha
If you do not believe me, just ask the Mormans. hahahahaahahha
by Richard Day on Wed, 05/25/2011 - 12:37am
It's a numbers game.
The more Mormon kids, the more Mormon Voters.
I thought I read the Hispanic or /Catholic population was averaging 3.1 chldren per household,
I wonder if the Mormons have that beat?
What kind of child is .1 Not ready yet, give it 8 - 9 more months?

For heavens sake! I had to stand up once again to regain my vitality. hahahaahahah
You, of course, realize that the entire purpose of polygamy was to generate the most children possible in the shortest period of time. hahahahaahahah
