Without knowing about the Friday announcement, one of my kids and I were talking about former Congressman Jim Kolbe. How he epitomized the well-intentioned, good people that ARE actually involved in high-level politics. How he was one of the Republicans that Democrats could mark a ballot for.
Then, what do I learn today? That Kolbe is - for the first time on a statewide or federal level - endorsing a Democrat and is chairing his campaign. (A check of Andrei Cherny's website confirmed this.)
Good for Kolbe. And, good for us when politicians can buck their parties and support someone that they think is the best person for the job. Regardless of party label.
