Georgia Young Republicans say talk radio divisive

Yesterday Georgia's Young Republicans passed a formal resolution denouncing leading right-wing talking heads for spreading disunity in the ranks.  Maybe some sanity is returning to the country.  One can only hop.

Therefore, be it resolved, this 5th Day of February, 2008, that the Georgia Federation of Young Republican Clubs strongly condemns and denounces the actions and speech over the past several weeks by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, and others for breeding contempt, disunity and hatred among the Republican Party in order to bolster their own careers; and

Therefore, be it FURTHER resolved, that the Georgia Federation of Young Republican Clubs praises talk show hosts like Neal Boortz, who, despite making their preference known, have chosen not to make it their mission to tear down other GOP candidates.

Wow, maybe people are beginning to realize that hate speech backfires!

Emma, let me say I think you get the award for best design of a personal symbol. I will never tire of it! And maybe you could be so kind as to tell us what it means.

    Thanks for the info! ♪

    Is Neal Boortz better?

How young are these Young Republicans? 12?

Do Young Democrats pass such silly decrees?

I never tire of your avatar either but I can't really claim mine as a personal symbol.

Tao or Dao is a Chinese character often translated as ‘The way of nature'.

‘The World is ruled by letting things take their natural course. It cannot be ruled by going against nature or arrogance.’ (Tao Te Ching; Verse 48).

cscs asked, "Is Neal Boortz better?"

Yes and no. He self-describes as a Libertarian and has not followed in lock-step with Republican but he has grown much less Libertarian since 9/11. I can't stand listening to him but will read his website from time to time.

I just "knew" it was something like that! I used the term "personal symbol" because avatar sounds so weird. Personally chosen symbol would have been better I suppose.

    Bravo! ♪

I am not in total agreement with that translation of verse 48. It was just the most convenient one at the time I posted.

"Flow like water between the cracks," is one of my favorites.

Perhaps you could post a "Daily Dao."

Wouldn't that make me evangelical? ;-)

Very good question. Right there I can tell you're a Daoist. *g*

Ok. How about a "Daily Koan?"

    A bunch of McCainiacs?

There are plenty enough koans already within posts across the blogosphere and I am attuned enough with Dao to be uncomfortable with any labels so I'll pass on intentionally posting any.

Are you familiar with the perennial philosophy?

According to the tenets of the perennial philosophy, people in many cultures and eras have experienced and recorded comparable perceptions about the nature of reality, the self, the world, and the meaning and purpose of existence. These similarities point to underlying universal principles, forming the common ground of most religions. Differences among these fundamental perceptions arise from differences in human cultures and can be explained in light of such cultural conditioning.
All humans possess a capacity, however unused and thus atrophied, for intuitive perceptions of ultimate or absolute truth, and the nature of reality. This perception is the final goal of human beings, and its pursuit and flourishing are the purpose of their existence. The major religions try to (re)establish the link between the human soul and this sublime and/or ultimate reality.

That's as much proselytizing as I want to do for now.

    More likely Huckabites.

When I read the headline I thought the story was going to be that, showing maturity beyond their years, these young College Republicans had come to their senses and realized that, yes, Talk Radio shouters do breed contempt, disunity and hatred in our country...

But no. Stop. Change words "in our country" to "among the Republican Party."

Sew contempt, disunity and hatred in our country in order to elect Republicans--now that sounds more like some Republicans we've been watching over the years.

Well, maybe it is a small step but at least we know that they know radioheads are more interested their careers than their party.
